Is going to the U.S. Virgin Islands considered leaving the country? ›

A: No. These territories are a part of the United States. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the U.S. and do not need to present a passport.

How long can a visitor stay in the Virgin Islands? Visitors are ordinarily admitted for one (1) month in the first instance provided they meet entry requirements at the ports of entry.
